Tips for A Stress-Free Wedding Morning
1. GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME
We have been doing weddings for eleven years and so have been around a fair few bridal parties in our time. The one thing that never fails to happen is that time flies, mostly because you are having so much fun 🙂
Get up early and allow an hour for makeup and an hour for hair per person. It doesn’t usually take that long, but it means that should anything go wrong, you have buffer time to fix it. We always recommend being ready, dressed and everything at least an hour before you want to leave your house, hotel room or getting ready venue. This means that you will have time to enjoy a sip of champagne, take some pictures and even relax the nerves a little bit. If you are rushing at the last minute this can really set you off on the wrong foot for your day.
2. HAVE A SUBSTANTIAL BREAKFAST
The day can get away from you and sometimes you won’t have time to have lunch. Filling up on a good breakfast before the madness of the day sets in is the best way to ensure you will last from morning till the wee hours on the dance floor.
3. DON’T HAVE EXTRA GUESTS TO YOUR GETTING READY LOCATION
A sure way for a bride to get stressed is to have a whole crowd of people standing around you when you are trying to get final hair and makeup touch-ups done or get some photos with your photographer. Although it is lovely to have friends and family around, sometimes they can get in the way and slow the process down. It is always best to try and gather the guests in a separate room where you can come to them when you are ready.
4. DEEP BREATHING
If at any stage of the morning you feel overwhelmed, do know that it is completely normal! Not everyone is used to or enjoys the limelight. If you do feel you are getting anxious, practise some deep breathing exercises as this really helps to calm the nerves and trick your body into relaxing.
5. DON’T LEAVE YOURSELF TILL LAST
All too often our brides ask to go last and it is the one thing that we are fairly steadfast in…a bride should never go last. You should get your hair prepped early in the morning (depending on style), then it is usually left to set, this can either be in rollers or pins. After this time somewhere in the middle of the group you should get your makeup done. After this you can go back and get your hair finished. Then at the end, your makeup will be touched up, freshened up and set. The reason it is done in this way is so that we can see how the makeup settles on the day, diagnose whether you may need more powder or a bit more hydration spray etc. Skin is a living thing that can change from day to day, depending on what time of the month it is, the weather or what we have eaten/drank. So even though we have done a bridal trial before the wedding in which we have come up with your look together, it is always important to see how it works on the day. Also it can get a bit hectic at the end, when stress levels of the bridal party can get elevated as they try and get dressed and find the enevitable missing thing…it is always best for you to get ready in a nice relaxed environment as it usually is earlier in the day 🙂
Thats it for our top tips…hope you found it helpful.
All the best,
